Meet Ann Edvall

Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MCoun&PsychTh)
PACFA Reg.Certified Practising 31683

Hello, and welcome! I’m glad you’re here.

I’m a counsellor based in Bondi Junction, dedicated to supporting everyone, but mainly women, through the many emotional experiences and life transitions that shape us.

My aim is always to gently and compassionately build a secure therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, seen, and understood. In this space, we can explore the challenges you may be carrying, whether they involve grief, stress, anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship patterns, work pressures, or major shifts in identity and life direction.

I bring a wealth of professional and personal experience to my work. Having navigated diverse roles and seasons in my own life, I understand that every woman’s story is unique, with its own needs, wounds, strengths, and complexities. My commitment is to be fully present with you, attuned to what you bring into the room, and responsive to the pace and depth that feels right for you.

My therapeutic style is warm, grounded, and authentic. I work with an awareness of how trauma, attachment, developmental experiences, and social pressures can shape a woman’s emotional world. Drawing on an integrative approach, I tailor our work to your individual needs using person-centred therapy as a foundation. When appropriate, I also incorporate evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Mindfulness and somatic practices are woven throughout my practice as a tool for grounding, insight, and self-compassion.

I have experience supporting clients with a wide range of emotional and relational concerns and am also skilled in facilitating group sessions. No matter where you are in your journey, overwhelmed, seeking clarity, healing old wounds, or simply wanting to reconnect with yourself. I’m here to walk alongside you with steadiness and care.

Why Counselling

Why Counselling?

It can help with

Cope with life events

Life is full of ups and downs, and coping with major events, whether joyful or challenging—can feel overwhelming. Learning healthy ways to navigate change, loss, and unexpected twists can make all the difference. From building resilience to finding support, discover strategies to manage stress, process emotions, and move forward with strength and clarity.

Helping women overcome mental health challenges requires addressing the social and political factors that contribute to their struggles. Women often face higher rates of anxiety, depression, and trauma due to systemic issues such as oppression, discrimination, gender-based violence, workplace inequality, and societal expectations. These factors can deeply impact their self-esteem, emotional well-being, and access to resources for recovery. Therapy should not only provide emotional support but also empower women by fostering resilience, self-advocacy, and coping strategies tailored to their unique experiences.

Walk-and-Talk Therapy

A study on walk-and-talk therapy by Greenleaf et al. (2023) found that walking during therapy sessions boosts creativity, enhances problem-solving, and strengthens the mind-body connection. Participants reported feeling more relaxed, with improved mood and clarity. Walking increases brain blood flow, reduces stress, and triggers feel-good chemicals like endorphins and endocannabinoids.

While city life can bring distractions like noise and privacy concerns, most study participants still found walking made therapy more effective. Being outdoors can boost creativity, clarity, and relaxation. Natural settings may enhance these benefits even more, making walk-and-talk therapy a powerful way to work through challenges.

Apart from the scientific benefits, it is also more affordable for you as an individual needing therapy. Hence, there is a lower fee for this form of therapy. More about nature therapy that is the same as walk-and-talk therapy here.

Things to consider when choosing this method:

  • If the weather is poor, we can reschedule or switch to a telehealth appointment.

  • Before starting, I will have a phone consultation with you to discuss your needs regarding both exercise and counselling.

  • You will receive a confidentiality form, ensuring the same level of privacy as a traditional therapy session.

  • We will arrange a designated meeting spot for our sessions.
